'Monkey Bites' promo mix, Feb 08

'Monkey Bites' event promo mix

February 2008

43min 40secs - 128kps MP3

Artwork embedded with MP3

"This is a mix I put together after being asked by the promoters of a gig in February 2008. It's only 45mins long since it was quite a quick job, so it's not the tightest mix ever either! But it makes up for it in crunk and groove, plus the odd bit of epileptic scratching. There's a couple of promos in there too ;) Enjoy!"

'Scene Mix 1: House' residency promo

'Scene Mix 1: House' residency promo mix

November 2007

1hr 1min 26secs - 192kps MP3 (in a zip file with artwork)

"A bit of a diversion from the usual Silo sound! This is a mix put together as 'part one' of a series to promote my regular not-related-to-the-label residency at Dogma in Coventry.

Each Friday I play a mixture of music across the board at Dogma. It's not an underground night, and that means catering for a mixture of people who are often just looking for a friday night out drinking and dancing to tunes they know. That said, Dogma also attracts and has a reputation for more underground nights and a clued-up music policy. So it's swings and roundabouts really - I get to play some tunes I love, some tunes I never usualy get to play, and some tunes that aren't my thing but I can manage!

Ok, stop sniggering at the back..."

'Fifty Get Funky 2007' event promo mix, Aug 2007

'Fifty Get Funky 2007 @ Dogma Coventry' promo mix

August 2007

1hr 4min 35secs - 112kps MP3, artwork embedded...I think.

"Let's get this out in the open first - I hate recording mixes. Playing live or on the radio has a rawness and an energy about it, you have a crowd to feed off and there's a flow. Recording mixes generally means standing in a room alone trying to get every mix intricately correct since the slightest drift is a lot more noticeable in someones earphones than it is in a club. Getting it all right is a lot harder when the whole time it can slip dangerously close to just feeling like an automated plod through one track to another, even if the end result might sound awesome.

So this... this is EASILY one of my favourite mixes of late. Not only is it ABSOLUTELY BANGING but I enjoyed putting it together and tracklisting it was a process that just fell into place.

It was done to promote an annual all-day mini festival that Dogma holds (and I organised) each August bank holiday Sunday. The day basically has DJ's in the bar and live acts in the basement club through the day with a BBQ going, then in the evening the DJ's take the basement over until around 3am.

In all, it was fucking mental. And so is this mix. ;)"

Dogma Presents/Spectrum mix, Oct 2006

'Spectrum / Dogma Presents' promo mix

October 2006

1hr 15min 53secs - 96kps MP3

Artwork not included in file - right click, 'save picture as...' if you want it!

"Back in '06 Silo was just getting off the ground and had it's first releases. At the same time Spectrum held monthly nights at Dogma in Coventry and we formed links meaning I played as a resident in cov and at their otehr nights in Birmingham and Nottingham, supporting Dj's including Pendulum, The Freestylers, Utah Saints, Kid Kenobi, and more.

Spectrum took Dogma on a Thursday night and we had a headliner once a month. On the other Thursday myself and DJ partner SometimesSean held things down. This is a mix I did to push those nights. It's been online for ages and has had a wicked reception with a truckload of downloads. The quality is a little bit low though... but still, it rides along with a grin like a mental patient on it's face.

It's also got some Silo tunes in it, some from before they were released, and one that still hasn't and may never see the light of day!"

Silo Sessions May 2006 mix

'Silo Sessions May 2006' mix

May 2006

1hr 19min 24secs - 128kps MP3, no artwork

"This is a mix I did that I can't really remember much about! It might even have been recorded at a gig. I've just had a listen though and it's pretty tough jump-up with your arms in the air business... all good (bar the odd shaky mix if I'm totally honest)!

I can't even remember the names of half of the tunes in it off the top of my head, but it includes tracks from Merka, CTRL Z, Far Too Loud, Cybass, Ivory, October, Ben & Lex, Shodan, Lifecycle, and The Bodysnathers amongst others. Pretty rocking actually! :)"

Ten4 (Mikey Silo) June 2005 Mix

'Ten4 - Breakerman (Stay Classy)'

June 2005

Zip file containing MP3 mix + full artwork for CD jewel case

"I did this one afternoon in the summer of 2005... and then spent about 3 times as long making the artwork! At the time I was going by the name 'Ten4', and had been for a fair few years. The 'Silo' thing only came about with the label.

It's a full on tearing mix that I was really feeling at the time. I'm not sure what bitrate the MP3 is at, in fact I think the zip file contains the mix seperated into each track. But it's well worth grabbing if you like music that frightens domestic animals and pensioners."
